Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier has seen many passers-by over the years and has become an subject of nostalgia. For Mr. Chan and his mother the pier is more like a home where they have worked for more than half a century. Mrs. Chan is more than ninety years old and has worked at the stall since she was a teenager. She used to work from four a.m. to nine at night but now she has children and grandchildren and in order to reduce his mother's burden Mr. Chan took over the newspaper stall. Although Mrs. Chan is very pleased to have successors, rain or shine she still comes back every day to see the stall as it has been part of her life for seventy years. The stall has witnessed many ups and downs in her life and she still greets old customers and gives directions to tourists. Working here is fulfilling and she is very proud to be able to live independently with dignity.
