Iris' office in a clothing company overlooks a junction in Prince Edward and looking out of the window as she works Iris can see traffic running day and night, the neighbourhood textile shops, fruit stalls, local restaurants, convenience stores, social organisations and newspaper sellers all co-existing and interacting throughout the day. Ordinary people living their lives in their neighbourhood. Iris is one of them.
Iris feels that her life is peaceful and down to earth, just an ordinary life. Every day she works under her own initiative and self-discipline; typing documents, placing orders, going to the bank, sourcing cloth samples, working with large and small textile suppliers, sometimes under time pressure, sometimes not. She is an ordinary working person in some ways but her job is also very varied. Sometimes she is more like a family butler, taking the sofa covers in the office to be cleaned for example, doing whatever needs to be done. When orders come late she returns to the office to follow up in the evening. If she doesn't finish her work in the daytime she may also take documents home to work on. She normally works from 10 am until 7 pm but during the peak season she will often work until about 11 pm.
